About Applying the SRC Books to Drumset
The SRC books were developed with generic rhythm in mind so that you could apply the rhythmic patterns to drum set in creative
ways. When a new rhythm is introduced, the first page is almost always straight rhythm with no flams or rolls. The following are some suggestions I use with my own practicing and
with my students.
Jazz Drumset
Exercise: 8th & Qtr Note Snare/Bass Patterns
In jazz, it is important to be able to play various snare and bass patterns while maintaining a ride pattern. This includes snare only, bass only, and snare/bass patterns.
Drumset pattern:

- Play rhythms with your snare while playing above drum set pattern.
- Play rhythms with your bass while playing above drum set pattern.
- Play 8ths on snare and quarter notes (and larger) on bass while playing above drum set pattern.
